Veramar Vineyard (VV) has been named Berryville and Clarke County "Business of the Year". Business of the Year Award is presented to the outstanding Chamber member organization, which, having been under the same ownership or management and has shown growth, innovation of product, exemplary customer service, response to adversity, and evidence of contribution to the community.
The "Business of the Year" is selected from all local entrants as the business demonstrating performance that is particularly outstanding and deserving of praise. The performance may represents individual achievement and overall success, judged according to the usual evaluation criteria of profitability, growth, stability, and investment strategy.
"We are extremely honored and very proud to be selected as 'Business of the Year'," said James Bogaty, owner and president, Veramar Vineyard. "Veramar Vineyard accepts this award on behalf of the community. We are successful only because of the community support. This is a spectacular way to cap off our third year in business."
"Over the past few years, Veramar Vineyard has had a great impact on agritrourism in our area under the Bogaty’ family leadership, and they have brought recognition to the winery for producing some of the greatest wines in Virginia and the nation," said Hazen Wilson president of the Chamber.
The Bogaty Family hails from the Italian Alps where even today members of the Bogaty family still own and operate a small Vineyard. Today, three generations of the Bogaty family. Della and Jim, along with their son, Justin, and their two daughters, Tiffany, Ashley and grandchildren Isabella and Luke carry on the legend, dedicated to continuing the family’s tradition of excellence in winemaking.
1st Class “A” Farm Winery in Clarke County. In 2002 owners Jim and Della Bogaty with their son Justin along with family members and friends, planted 2 acres of Norton grapes on a hillside by Veramar's fermenting room, tasting room and patio. The Bogatys, who lived in Loudoun County for 35 years, purchased their 100-acre spread in Clarke County in December 1998.
"We've had a phenomenal year," Della Bogtay said. She added, "It's been an amazing journey. We've taken a tremendous risk, and it's paid off thanks to the community’s great support.”
Justin Bogaty said, “Veramar Vineyard LLC is located in Berryville, Virginia. It was established in 1998 and produces and bottles approximately 7 wines. The wines are made from grapes that will grow in the area, and fruits that they get in nearby counties in Virginia. Wines are given names from elements in the family crest, i.e Rooster Red”
